Following a few forays into individual film screenings, and the recent success of the Spring Portland Film Festival, we're launching into our Spring Cinema Season.
Starting on the 20th of April with the cult musical Grease! Starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, everyone knows at least one two tapping tune from the hit Broadway musical successfully transferred to film, whether its the titular song, or the joyous drawl of those Summer Nights. The Theatre is showing the sing-along version, so if you're one of the few who doesn't know all the words, they're up there on screen during the songs.
A week later, on Saturday 27th April, at 10.30am, the Theatre is showing the remastered, 4K version of Labyrinth for the kids, with a mind binding performance by David Bowie and a marvellous example of Jim Henson's puppetry at the height of his game.
The films switch gears a little, the following week, on the 4th May, but still keep the feel of kookiness and originality, by showing the hilarious WIthnail & I, starring Richard E Grant as the eponymous Withnail, and Paul McGann as I, follow them as they go from jobbing actors in London, having a not so nice but quite eventful holiday in Penrith, Cumbria.
A Sound of Music sing-along comes mid-May and the renowned Sorry to Bother you at the start of June, rounds off the Spring Season at the Royal Manor Theatre Cinema.
All tickets are £5 and films start at 7pm. More details are on the website or facebook page.
